Dear Chick-fil-A,
We represent the Cache Refugee and Immigration Connection (CRIC), which is a small nonprofit organization located in Logan that serves the needs of immigrants and refugees in Cache Valley. Our mission is to help these refugees achieve autonomy in our community. We would like to propose an exchange of an advertisement for Chick-fil-A on our website and Facebook page for a $5,000 donation to fund the purchase of winter coats for those we serve. We have chosen Chick-fil-A because we know you are a charitable organization and it is your mission to give back to the communities wherever your restaurants reside.
As a small non-profit organization, we rely primarily on donations to meet the needs of the families we serve. At this time our clients are in great need of winter clothing, specifically winter coats. We know Chick-fil-A has a great desire to serve those in their communities. According to S. Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-A, “We should be about more than just selling chicken. We should be part of our customers’ lives and the communities in which we serve.”
A donation from Chick-fil-A would help meet the needs of the people we serve, and will also fulfill the goal of the company which is community service in Cache Valley. To show our appreciation, we would happily apply the company’s logo to our organization’s website and Facebook page for the holiday season. Although our organization is small, we are continually growing, and we know those who are involved with CRIC will be grateful.
We would like to request a donation of $5,000, which would help meet the needs of many of the refugees and immigrants in this valley. Through our research on the cost of winter coats, we have surmised that we would be able to purchase approximately 100 adult winter coats from Deseret Industries for the individual price of $45 each plus tax with this amount.
We are hoping to finalize this exchange by Friday Dec. 1, 2017, right in time for the winter season. CRIC would upload the Chick-fil-A logo on our website and Facebook page thereafter. If we are able to finalize this agreement by Dec. 1, 2017, we would be able to begin distributing the winter coats to the refugees who need them beginning on Dec. 4, 2017.
We feel this transaction will be mutually beneficial in that you will be providing the refugees in our community with a greatly needed service. We want the families CRIC serves to know they are welcome in our community and to help them feel at home. For more details regarding this proposal, please contact Julie Taquin at (916) 291-5599.
Sincerely,
Representatives of Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection,

I like that you included the mission statements of both parties. It seems you did your research and found chick fil A to be a good candidate for the proposal due to their past generosity. Including a direct quote from the founder of Chick Fil A adds a lot of credibility to what you are saying. One thing I think would help the flow of the paper is a table of contents or labeling of some sort. Great job over all.
ReplyDeleteGreat job. It really pays off that you did research and found a business like Chik Fil A that actually has a mission to be charitable and involved in the community. It helps strengthen the pitch of the proposal, as does citing their own statements regarding this mission. How long exactly is the holiday season?
ReplyDeleteI have two little suggestions.
1. I do not think 'autonomy' is quite the right word. I think that has more to do with governing oneself, rather than being self-reliant.
2. I believe there is no sales (or any other) tax at DI, because it is a charity. But I am not positive.
This is a really awesome idea and proposal. I enjoyed that you have done the necessary research to look into cost of adult coats and where you can buy them at. I personally thought your asking price was a little low, so I would expect 5,000 dollars to be really achievable. Wish you guys the best of luck!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I thought that you did really well outlining your proposal, including highlighting the values that the two organizations share. I did think that the budget could have been worked out a little bit more, how would Chick Fil A get their $5,000 worth? I think that it would have been nice to see some more specific projected benefits for their organization in this proposal. Good job though!
ReplyDeleteI liked that you brought Chick-fil-A's mission statement into the proposal. I think you did a good job of stating what CRIC would be doing with the $5000. A suggestion would be to include more details of how the exchange would help Chick-fil-A.
ReplyDeleteThe choice of company is perfect! I can tell you all thought hard about who to work with, and pitched accordingly. Others have mentioned it, and I too feel some kind of labeling or contents page would be helpful.
ReplyDeleteThe proposal from Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection to Chick-fil-a was very professional and charitable. I could literally seeing Chick-fil-a dominating the $5000 donation just because of the idea of helping out local refugees. Great work!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with this proposal! The language you used to write it is very professional and I think did a good job at explaining your points. I like that you included a quote from the founder of Chick-fil-a. Your points flowed really well and it was easy to read.
ReplyDeleteI thought this proposal was very well put together. The writing was very professional and clear. I thought it was a great idea to include specific dates in your proposal. It makes the whole exchange very clear.
ReplyDeleteThis letter is very well written; I'm impressed by the professional language used, as well as the simplicity and clarity of the letter. You definitely incorporated you research well into the letter. I'm with a few of our peers- I'm not sure if DI has tax, but I could definitely be wrong! Great job, and good luck!
ReplyDeleteI think you guys composed this very well. I really liked how clear and easy to understand the writing style was. Great flow, easy to read, and very clear as far as exactly what you expected to happen with the exchange. Good job guys!
